The 2012 competition got off to a great start on Oct. 26 when Gov. Chafee came to our Kick-Off event – to thank sponsors for supporting the competition and encourage the 80 people attending to apply.

Last year’s winners gave an update on their progress, which has been impressive:

  • AmbiLabs (maker of turnkey, field monitoring laboratories) just signed a $1.5 million deal to supply 30 of its labs to a major environmental consulting firm for deployment across the country. Learn more PDF

  • Lucidux (developing 3D software to aid surgery) completed its prototype device, has pilot animal studies underway, and signed a research agreement with a local hospital.

  • PriWater (developing a prenatal beverage supplement to reduce birth defects), which changed its product name to Premama, is discussing a contract with the world’s largest marketer to mothers and has developed a potential investor list of more than 40 people. Learn more PDF
